THE Birthday Weekend: Part 3
As some of you may know, the movie Frozen and everything associated with it has become a TOTAL hit for Disney. So much so that they can't keep any Frozen-themed things stocked. Thus, it became a bit of a challenge for party planning purposes but with some persistence, lots of creativity, and Etsy we pulled it off. Take a look at the theme, decor, and fun activities.
THE Birthday Weekend: Part 2
THE PARTY! Way back in Spring Kaitlyn started thinking about her party and what theme she wanted (yes, this girl is all about themes and matching decor and games and...and...and). It is so extremely entertaining to hear her thinking through what she wants, making choices, and hearing the reasoning behind the choices. Well this year took quite a while before a theme was nailed down. Mid-June she finally decided on a Frozen party.
She recently has really gotten into this movie and Anna and Elsa. Which is quite different. I don't think she could even list the other Disney princesses names. In fact, at Disneyland they gave us a signed picture of Cinderella and she could have cared less and didn't even really know who it was. But Anna and Elsa...totally different story. She's seen the movie quite a bit and knows every.single.word. to the songs...seriously. One time she sang the entire 'Let it Go' song and then turned to me and said, "I sounded just like Elsa singing, didn't I?' Sure, honey...keep drinking that grape kool-aid. :)
Here are pictures from her special birthday party:

The Elsa dress she got for her birthday...it lasted a whole 20 minutes into the party before changing - lol!
KP was very insistent that the dress we got her have a train, just like Elsa's. She got her hair done like Elsa's too!
Craft and game fun!

The side glance to Mom that she's making her wish
Ryan started singing some songs from Frozen in a high-pitched voice and the girls lost it - they thought it was so stinkin' funny! (and it was!)

THE Birthday Weekend: Part 1
I typically take a PTO day on Kaitlyn's actual birthday. This year it fell on a Saturday, which meant two great things: 1. No PTO day and 2. Ryan got to celebrate the entire day with us. No surprise but it was like Christmas morning. Immediately upon waking she dying to open her birthday gifts. And then following that came the request to head to the Pancake House. Some fun afternoon activities and then late lunch/early dinner at Red Robin (seems like it's becoming a tradition). And then some preparation to get ready for her party the next day. Happy 6th birthday to my love bug!!
The anticipation!
I guess we did okay on this gift - she was sooo happy!
Seriously, this girl and her stuffies - it's crazy!

Random Summer Fun
My lack of consistency in blogging makes me have to do postings like, 'Random Summer Fun!'And I'm not even going to lie, it's never going to change. The fits and starts will just always be but the fact that I turn this into a yearly book of memories for KP keeps me going. :)
These are pics from June and July that I was too lazy to blog at the time. So here goes!

Another Decade - Holy Crap!
Another birthday found me. And here's pretty much the only good thing to say:
Okay, truth be told, although I'm not happy about entering this new decade I did have a lovely birthday weekend. Saturday was family day and we hit the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium and then had a fantastic lunch on the deck at Dukes. The weather was perfect! That night Jen took KP overnight so that Ryan and I could head out to dinner (Melrose Grill - super yummy!) and a movie. It's the first movie we had seen in a really long time that wasn't animated. Best part...the movie theater was for 21 and older only and they served booze. BEST.THING.EVER! Sunday was a Mariner's game in some great seats! Thanks everyone for such wonderful memories!

Being Six: Part 2
Last week was Kaitlyn's six-year wellness check. She was all game knowing that she didn't have to get any shots and that at the end of the visit she always gets to visit the lollipop and sticker baskets!
Stats:
Height - 3' 10" tall...yes, she's catching up to me quickly!
Weight - 47 pounds...goodbye to using the latch system on her car seat!
Eye test and hearing test were passed with flying colors! And the handout they gave me describes her to a tee:

Eye test and hearing test were passed with flying colors! And the handout they gave me describes her to a tee:
- Kids this age seem to have boundless energy
- Dawdling is a normal response at this age
- May have unpredictable mood swings
- Is quite sensitive to criticism
- Values independence
Check, (HUGE) check, check (a bazillion times over), check, and check (except for when she has to go to the bathroom which for some reason she seems to think that should be a social event/chat fest)!
Last big news...seriously loose tooth on the bottom. Like if she focused on getting it out, she could. Gotta start looking for a tooth fairy pillow!
