Weekend Updates

Yes, I’m just a couple days behind but here are the happenings from the past weekend:

Saturday A.M.: The Big Show
One of Kaitlyn’s favorite things is to go to Little Gym. All week we hear, ‘Saturday, Little Gym, Mr. Tony (her teacher), monkey bars, other kids!’ (thanks to Karen for capturing the cute video!) She just LOVES it there. Well, the winter/spring semester came to an end this week and thus, they had their big show where the kids got to show off all their skills. It’s amazing to think how far these little ones have come. Anyways, at the end she got a metal and she thought that was pretty darn cool until it got in the way of her hanging on the bars, then it had to go!

Saturday P.M.: Fore!
Scene: Kaitlyn, Ryan and I hanging out in the family room. The US Open is on the TV (father’s day weekend and all, I had to give it to Ryan).
Events: Kaitlyn says ‘golf!’ and goes to get her golf set. Unfortunately, it’s outside in the rain. So instead we get her the putting cups and some real golf balls (yes, BIG mistake). She’s happily playing along and then next thing I know she’s decided that it’s more fun to throw the golf balls then putt them. Whack!!! She clocked me right in the eye with one at very close range. I now have a lovely colorful eye.

Upside: Kaitlyn has a great arm on her.
Downside: I look like a picture for domestic abuse. I’ll admit that I was very self-conscious going into Walmart to buy diapers with KP the other day…had I put on my tube top and flip flops to go with my black eye I would have likely made it on their ‘people of walmart’ site. (http://www.peopleofwalmart.com– not for the faint hearted or easily offended).
Lesson learned: No more golf balls in the house
Funny quote: Emily saw my eye today and said, ‘what the heck did you do with your makeup?!’

Sunday: Happy Daddy’s Day!
It’s the cutest thing to hear Kaitlyn say, ‘happy daddy’s day!’ It was a great one and ended with a treat…a bowl of ice cream for both Ryan and Kaitlyn. Not sure who was more thrilled. Either way, Kaitlyn loves her Daddy and is one lucky girl for having such a wonderful and very involved Daddy!

Lil Miss Independent

What's KP up to these days? Well the shirt says it all...she's 'lil miss independent'! 'Kaitlyn do' is frequently heard these days.

BTW, thanks Auntie Jen for the great (and very accurate) shirt!

Oh and she can count to 13, knows her abc's, and finishes some of our words in her favorite Curious George stories. Boy, I guess it's time to start thinking about that college fund!

Our curious little monkey

Yes, that's Kaitlyn. In a tree. She saw some bigger kids climbing a tree and said, "Kaitlyn do." And that's exactly what she did. I think during the next benefits renewal we better select the health care plan with the lowest deductible.

Thanks to Karen for capturing this!

Our rain-loving ladybug

The last week has been excruciating for an outside lover like Kaitlyn. It's been nonstop rain, gloomy, and all around icky! I finally gave up on the idea that the sun would make an appearance, pulled out the rain boots (rain coat is on order and should arrive soon) and decided to head outside anyways. Rain wasn't going to ruin our fun.

With her new ladybug rain boots (thanks, Emily!) we were off. We hit every single mud puddle whether big or small. Some we hit multiple times. By the time we got home everything on Kaitlyn was soaked except her feet. But she had a blast and that's all that matters.

Kaitlyn, it always amazes me how happy my heart is doing things like mud puddle jumping, rock hunts, or my favorite, swinging with you. "Swing Mommy Lap" are some of my favorite words. And then that deep belly laugh you have when we swing higher and higher together...well, there's nothing better than that. You're quite the independent little one and enjoy swinging on your own so I appreciate you indulging me with our swings together.
Much love, Mommy
