Ocean Shores Getaway

June 2020

Our household is full of rule followers, for the most part (less my high school into college rebellious years). Thus, it's no surprise that we followed social distancing guidelines fairly closely and more so than anyone else we know. The Mosers were the only ones we socialized with and even that was to a limited degree. Masks were worn when out and even through drive thrus. And definitely no large gatherings were had or attended. When KP's friend, Addie, invited her to go to Ocean Shores to celebrate their birthdays we thought long and hard about this one. In the end, we felt KP needed to get out (she'd been cooped up in the house since early March) and have some fun and be a kid for the weekend. She had an absolute blast! What a great way for her to kick off what was to become a very unusual summer. 

 

Moser Summer Visit

June 2020

Jen and Em headed our way to celebrate the start of summer and to hang out with KP. They took a walk up to our new Starbucks and also took Forest with them. Talk about some dog drama on the way home (check out the last picture)...you'd think they'd taken him on a 5 mile hike all uphill! Dude was tuckered out! Before all the drama though he got a treat...boy, does he love his puppuccinos!

Kenyen and Forest bring us lots of laughter but I'm not gonna lie, frustration too! Regardless, they are pretty stinkin' cute. And as you can tell, they lead pretty hard lives...NOT!

Sayonara 6th Grade!

Last day of 6th grade for KP. Even though it was Covid style (i.e. remote) I still made her take one of the pictures in front of our door because you know, tradition! 

Auntie Jen got KP the cutest cactus garden set to congratulate her on

New Shiny Toy

We'd be thinking for a while about what to do with Ryan's truck. It had some expensive repairs coming up and just had a few other issues that worried us. He'd be watching truck listings for a while to see if anything was out there fitting our criteria. Finally in June, a match! And even better, it was at Fugate Ford in Enumclaw (last truck meant a trip to Spokane). Ryan headed out to see if it was really as good as the listing made it seem. Low and behold, a few hours later this pretty thing was sitting in our driveway (although this pic is actually taken in front of the Moser's house).

We had our condo at Wapato Point for Memorial Day weekend. It looked like due to state mandates on non-essential travel and hotel/condo safety regulations we weren't going to be able to enjoy our time there. But a stroke of luck came our way and some regulations were eased and they opened up just in time for the weekend -wahoo! Since KP was learning remotely we decided to take an extra day and come back Tuesday so we could enjoy a nice 4-day getaway to one of our favorite places!

One nice thing about social distancing is the time we've spent hanging out together as a family. We've lived in our house almost 15 years and just discovered this super cool trail by us that takes us down to the Cedar River and then pops us right back up to the pipeline. How in the world did we not know about this sooner?!

May 2020

May brought the stark reality...the dawning that the pandemic/Covid-19 outbreak might be around for a while and thus, lots more rules and recommendations around mask wearing and social distancing (although still in a confusing and politicized manner). Truth be told, I don't think many of us realized how long and how significantly this would affect our lives going forward. We were still hopeful (naively) that if people would just follow the recommendations of scientists and health care professionals, summer might bring a reprieve to all of this. This was not to be.
