Kaitlyn will most definitely NOT be a druggie nor will we have to worry about rehab. As mentioned in the last post, she had a sinus infection and bronchitis. And yep, that means antibiotics. And no, she hasn't outgrown her intensely strong resistance to taking medicine/drugs of any kind no matter the taste, shape, delivery, etc.
This time we opted for the pill that we could crush into powder and place in food. I felt like a total druggie though getting out the spoon every morning and evening crushing this white pill until it was a very fine white powder substance.
Anyways, in hopes of reducing the struggle a bit, I took Kaitlyn on a shopping spree allowing her to pick and choose anything and everything that she was willing to try mixing the medicine into. I've never had a cart so full of sugar and junk and empty calories - lol. We had chocolate syrup (recommended by her doctor), brownies, frosting, bagels with cream cheese, cookies with frosting, all kinds of ice cream, assorted candy, jams, waffles with whipped topping and on and on.
We started a list of 'yes' it'll work or 'no' it won't. We had A LOT of 'no ways' (and painful times getting her to finish the medicine with those 'no ways' even though it was a tiny bit). We hit a 'yes' with frosted cookies but that only lasted a couple days and we were back to the stubborn, consistent 'no'. Bright spot though is that we ended with a BIG ole YES and perhaps our go-to for the next time and that's mint chocolate chip ice cream. I'm just so glad the medication is done and she felt better for a bit. Yes, unfortunately, she's yet again fighting something that started this weekend.
