Springing Back to Spring Break
On the Friday of spring break Kaitlyn got the thrill of hanging out with her cousin Morgan. She absolutely loves spending time with her but it's often difficult to get them together because Ms. Morgan's schedule is crazy-chaotic. Once we were able to coordinate the date we decided to take full advantage and celebrate Morgan's birthday at the same time (it was just a few days later). So signs and cupcakes were made, presents were opened, and lots of smiles and giggles were seen/heard.

Field Trip Fun
Today I took the morning off from work and Kaitlyn and I headed to Kidsquest, a children's museum in Factoria. We met all her preschool friends there for a fun-filled field trip day. I'd taken KP there about two years ago and she loved it then and she loved it this time, too. Probably more so because she got to explore with all her friends.
I think the best part for me was the beautiful day (70 degrees!) and heading up there (a bit of a drive) chatting with Kaitlyn the whole way. Her chit-chat never ceases to amaze me and always cracks me up! Add to that the warmth of the sun shining down on us and I was in heaven!

Hopping Back to Easter
Easter this year was celebrated over a two-weekend span. First we had some Easter crafts (thanks Grammy Jill!) and the egg dying tradition.
Then we had the annual Russellwood neighborhood easter egg hunt (Moser's neighborhood) the weekend before Easter. We had sunshine (although cooler temps). As usual, the kids loved the festivities.
Easter day itself was gorgeous - sunny and warm! In fact, I got a bit of a sunburn on my arm. Ah, mother nature please, please bring back the warmth. We headed down to the Mosers to celebrate and had a really great, kick-back kind of day hanging out.

Good Times!
This weekend we celebrated my Mom's birthday. Lunch at Mama Stortini's and cake and ice cream back at the Mosers. Lots of fun and yummy food!
Mom, hope you enjoyed your special day! I'm very much looking forward to our relaxing spa day.
Please note: no children were harmed nor houses burned down with all those candles on the cake. Not sure how the fire alarm didn't go off but all is well and the cake was delicious. :)

Rockin' the Roller Rink
Technical difficulties fixed (well, more like worked around) so catch-up posts coming soon. Today though, we rocked the roller rink. Yep, it was Kaitlyn's first time roller skating and we did it in style with Jen and Emily.
It's been well over 30 years since I've had a pair of skates on but let me tell you, in my day I was good. I mean come on, Jen and I were the reigning champions of the truck and trailer races at good 'ole Skateland. So although it's been a while, I was ready to get my game on. LOL!
We headed in and the instant stank (notice I didn't say stink, that's not a horrible enough of a word..definitely stank fits better) of sweaty feet and cheap snack shop food along with the glaring disco lights brought back all the memories. And to top off the trip down memory lane, the Ms. Pacman game was standing tall in there. A roller rink just isn't complete without that game.
2 1/2 hours of skating, a couple of blue raspberry icees, 2 salted pretzels, 2 sodas, and a video game later we walked out of there exhausted (see the last picture) but boy, did we have a blast!
Sadly, they didn't have an adult truck and trailer race so Jen and I never got to strut our stuff. Maybe next time.
Off to bed I go, having taken a couple ibuprofens. I think I've awakened muscles that have been dormant for decades. My hats off to Sandy and my Uncle Dan, that skating is hard work and not for wussies!

The Happs
A few happenings to catch-up on. First up, Dad's night at school. The first week of March Kaitlyn had a special date night with Daddy. Every year her preschool dedicates one night to just Dad's and kids. So off KP and Ryan went. Lots of fun to be had. And for me, I snuggled into bed and watched The Odd Life of Timothy Green. It was really a win-win all around. :)

Next up, three cheers for hand-me-downs. KP got a big ole bag of fun from Ms. Emily. There were sunglasses, dress-up clothes, games, stuffies...all kinds of fun to be had. And the biggest hit, Dora Candyland. KP is really into board games (and Wii games). I think we've played 100 rounds of Candyland so far and 10x that number with our longer -held games like Sequence and Bug Trails.
Snow! Yes, Kaitlyn and I headed out to get a little Thursday evening ice cream treat but instead opened the garage to find a different kind of something cold...SNOW! Kaitlyn immediately ran out in her pj's and just started giggling and twirling around catching the snow with her tongue. So cute to sit back and just watch the pure joy and thrill on her face! She says as she's catching it with her tongue, "Momma, I LOVE snow. It tastes so good. It tastes like really, really good water!' Watch out Evian, you've got nothing on snow.
HUGE news in Kaitlyn's world...she got to take Jackson, her class mascot, home this weekend. It's so fascinating to see how attached these kids have gotten to Jackson and how thrilled they are to get to take him home. This is a very loved stuffed monkey. We write in a journal about our weekend experiences and then Kaitlyn shares with the class on Monday. Boy, pressure is on to ensure an over-the-top super-duper weekend for our very, very special house guest!
On a sad note, my Uncle Carl (Dad's brother) recently passed away. I have very fond memories of Uncle Carl and he will be missed! There was a nice service held for him last weekend. Although I wish the occasion for the get together had been different, it was really lovely to visit with family that I hadn't seen for years. In addition, Jen, Mom, Dad and I all went out for a late lunch. We couldn't remember the last time just the four of us just got a chance to hang out over lunch.
